Frog (www.frogtrade.com) will unveil new features for its Parental Engagement Portal at BETT 2010 (Stand M50), equipping parents to support their child’s education on a daily basis. Further to research revealing that only 67 percent of secondary schools use a learning platform, Frog is urging schools to implement technology that will enable them to truly engage everyone in their school community. In addition, live demonstrations of its award-winning Secondary Learning Platform will take place, showcasing the Frog Community which allows Frog schools to collaborate and share resources with other Frog schools.
The Frog Secondary Learning Platform, now used in schools across 80 local authorities, provides schools with the tools to tailor their learning platform to the needs of their school. Teachers can easily create interactive learning resources and creations such as ‘Question of Sport’-style quizzes and podcasts can be uploaded, to engage students.
Kevin Dickens, Deputy Headteacher, The Abbey School, Kent, comments: “Frog is changing the way we work and creating fresh opportunities to engage students in the learning process. This technology is encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning both inside and beyond the school classroom.”
The Frog Parental Engagement Portal empowers schools to achieve beyond the Government’s real-time reporting requirements. In addition to access to data on their child’s attendance, behaviour and timetable, new assessment features have now been added to the portal. Using the portal’s easy-to-use interface, similar to today’s popular social networking sites, parents can tailor the way their page looks by ‘dragging and dropping’ the information they want onto their computer screen resulting in a more personalised experience.
Gareth Davies, Managing Director, Frog, adds: “The Parental Engagement Portal has been created to present everything parents need to know in a familiar format, providing real-time integration with schools’ management information systems and enabling schools to control which information parents can see.”
