Ref: IS043

Set to transform the use of audio for learning in UK schools, colleges and universities, technology specialist iansyst Ltd in partnership with Sonocent Ltd, have launched Audio Notetaker (www.audionotetaker.com) to mainstream education. The software enables students to recall, review and interact with course materials through audio recordings.

In class, students have to rely on understanding everything as they hear it, making notes and remembering the details they don't get the chance to write down. By recording classes, discussions and even their own thoughts, students are given the opportunity to re-visit these materials to reinforce their learning. Audio Notetaker enhances this learning strategy by making listening an active process, enabling students to see and interact with the recording. They can add structure, highlights and textual notes as they go.

Using Audio Notetaker’s unique audio visualisation tool, students are, for the first time, able to display PowerPoint slides, images and text from documents, in a structured layout alongside their audio recordings. This revolutionary 2-D audio view allows students to manipulate audio as if it were text – jumping to any point, quickly editing their files or even adding their own voice annotations through the built-in recording tool. Students may also take advantage of the export tools which provide a music player compatible format so that students can re-listen to their recordings at any time.   Audio Notetaker can also be used to enhance and review podcasts. Teachers and lecturers can use the software to provide learners with recordings to help aid research and revision.

The Audio Notetaker software works with a digital recorder and integrates seamlessly with the users PC or Laptop. The Live Notetaking capabilities allows students working on a PC or laptop to add keywords, highlight key points using coloured markers or break up their notes into sections as they are recording, making it easy to locate key information and recall past audio notes. The improved File Manager tool helps students to manage and organise their notes and audio recordings and easily recall important lectures, lessons or podcasts.

Roger Tucker, Founder of Sonocent Ltd comments: “Audio Notetaker opens up a whole different world where you can listen but be in complete control of the audio, just like you are when reading text. Instead of being tedious and frustrating, working with audio recordings becomes easy and even fun. Once you’ve experienced Audio Notetaker you’ll understand the difference it makes. Everybody should use it!”

Abi James, Product Innovation Manager at iansyst Ltd, comments: “Audio Notetaker v2 takes away the stress of capturing important information and provides peace of mind that it will be there when students need to revisit it. The software makes it easy for students to use audio to enhance and reinforce their notes and developing their independent learning skills. “

Audio Notetaker costs £79.95 + VAT (VAT exempt for disabled users) for a single-user license. For more information about Audio Notetaker, please contact Abi James at iansyst, Tel: 01223 420 101; email abi@iansyst.co.uk; or visit the website: www.audionotetaker.com.
