Keen to help every student reap the learning benefits of ICT, iansyst Ltd (www.iansyst.co.uk / www.dyslexic.com) will be showcasing the latest additions to its exciting product portfolio, bringing both mainstream and assistive technologies (AT) to schools, colleges and the home. Visitors to stand F119 can hear about iansyst’s latest software releases designed to open AT to every student, as well as try out the latest range of technologies available to schools.
Exciting new technologies will be showcased throughout the show, including EB Wordbanks, a new writing tool developed with Claro Software, and AttenGO - a tool to help address the root causes of Attention Deficit Disorders. For FE colleges and schools with a Sixth Form, iansyst will also be showing DysCalculiUM - the UK’s first online screener to highlight adults displaying signs of dyscalculia developed in partnership with Loughborough University and Tribal.
At BETT 2011, iansyst will be launching EB WordBanks, its innovative new writing tool for students with literacy difficulties which has been developed in partnership with Claro Software. Sitting alongside your word processor, EB WordBanks gives you instant access to words and phrases relevant to your specialist subject area. The easily created grids combine hundreds of words and phrases with speech output, to enable every learner to write independently.
Also on show will be AttenGo a training program which has been clinically proven to significantly boost cognitive skills and enhance brain regulation. Helping to address the root causes of Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD/ADHD/LD), AttenGo is designed for use with children from age 6, teenagers and adults with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities. It enables users to maximise their potential and reduces or eliminates the use of medications that often have unwanted side effects.
Developed by Loughborough University’s Mathematics Education Centre (MEC) in partnership with iansyst Ltd and Tribal, DysCalculiUM is the UK’s first online screener to highlight adults displaying signs of dyscalculia. Administered by learning and disability support personnel in colleges and universities, DysCalculiUM creates a profile on each person using 11 categories based on what they understand mathematically. Delivered online through Tribal’s Advance learning platform, DysCalculiUM is available anytime, anywhere with an internet connection enabling users to log on at a time and place convenient to them.
Although AT has traditionally been designed to be easy to use for people with different learning difficulties, iansyst believe it to be incredibly beneficial for all students in the mainstream classroom. Integrating assistive technology into the mainstream classroom is also a massive step towards a greater acceptance of disabilities as SEN students are not set apart from their peers when using it.
Ian Litterick, Executive Chairman and Founder of iansyst Ltd, comments: “All good technology should be assistive, helping students be more productive and get more out of life. In many cases, learning disabilities are often a magnification of difficulties everyone experiences so it is vital that teachers have a better understanding of the benefits assistive technologies can bring to every student’s learning and productivity. At iansyst, we strongly believe that taking an innovative approach to AT can help raise awareness of the tremendous learning benefits and deliver it in a scalable and affordable way to UK schools.”
